P2 (U24): Explain the use of convergence and then explain the use of converging technologies within an identified sector.
Convergence:
When 2 or more things come together to form something new. For example, two companies merging to form a 1 whole company.

With the use of digital cameras, we are able to film something in incredibly good quality and it will go straight onto a SD card which can be put into a computer and transferred over. this is extremely efficient and can be done by anyone with ease. Before Convergence was a thing, you used to have to take the footage out and cut it yourself which took a lot of effort and time to do. This new technique saves a lot of time and energy and is basically instant when put into the computer. As we'll as this, on a DSLR digital camera, there is a feature which allows the production team to watch footage back on the set. You can also look back at photographs on the set. Both of these features will benefit the production team massively because it will save time and capital analysing the footage, therefore making this process a lot more efficient and economical.

An SD card holds both internal and external storage on a device. they allow you to transfer your storage from device to device. These only came into society in the recent years which means before they were created, you used to have to upload each peace of footage individually to be able to edit it. SD cards allow you to access and import or export all of the footage that was recorded all at one, therefore saving time and making your work more efficient. this is an extremely important Convergence because they are used so much in the modern world, that we would struggle to live without them.
Special effects:
Special effects are used in all films and on many TV dramas or programmes. They are used to make the audience more engaged in the film. They do this by creating certain sounds or images that interest the audience. Convergence has allowed the special effects to evolve into a huge part of production by creating a much larger variety of effects, as well as the chance to create your own effects. they can be used on many different devices, including your smartphone or tablet on some applications. this makes the production a lot quicker and allows many people to customise their effects to make them more appealing to the audience.

The production of Music has took convergence into its stride and has been made extremely simple to do on any device. For example, there are many different producing softwares on Laptops and tablets that have all the required features and more in order to create a song. Before this, you used to need lots and lots of equipment and practically a studio, however, in the more recent years, all you need is a Laptop, a software and a microphone. This allows many musicians and music producers to work in different studios across the world with many different music artists.

There are many new photo editing softwares that allow anyone to tweak their photos for the use of advertisement and many other things. This is relatively new to the world of technology and is extremely important in post production. This is because if anything needs adjusting, anyone has the power to quickly make the photo perfect. These editing softwares are available on nearly all devices as well. They are all over the App Store for mobile phones and tablets and are all over the internet to use them on Laptops. This means that many editors can work from home or outside their office without needing any equipment or information from their office.
iCloud/ Google docs:
Both iCloud and google docs or drive are used to communicate the work with everyone. this is because only the people they send it to can view it so it keeps the work private, however easy to access for everyone who is working on the project. this will allow many people to complete their work at a quick pace and with no hassle. This is because as soon as they complete it, they can just send it straight back over to everyone and it will have all the work completed and ready to go. However, iCloud can only be used on apple devices so that's why many brands use google Docs to send around their work because anyone can access it from anywhere on any device, including their smart phone. This makes the whole production process a lot easier to complete for everyone and will enhance the communication everyone has with each other.

This is because it gives anyone on any type of device anywhere in the world at anytime the opportunity to have a meeting about the pre- production of their product. this is extremely useful because it makes communication extremely simple for everyone who is involved in the pre production. it allows people to work together at the other side of the world. As well as this, it also cuts the costs of the production. this is because the business does not need to find a office or room to rent out somewhere to have a meeting, instead they can discuss everything they need to on Zoom. The convergence allows everyone to access Zoom on multiple devices. For example, it is available on Laptops, Smartphones and Tablets.

This is because they allow you to explain and emphasise parts of the story you are creating in certain ways that can't be done in words. they allow you to use visual guidance in order to benefit the understanding if the plot. Storyboards link to convergence because you can use certain websites or applications through your phone or laptop to create an extremely sophisticated and detailed story board. this will save a lot of time in pre production, as well as boosting the efficiency of your team. As well as this, it allows your team to save paper and materials, as well as recruiting skilled staff to create the best storyboards by hand.

This is because everyone now has a smartphone. This enables everyone to go and scan the QR code to enter a special website or access a special offer for a certain product. This is something new in the industry so many people find it extremely interesting to scan the QR code. An example of this in a marketing campaign would be in the Call of Duty campaign. They used QR codes to allow the consumer to access certain "Easter eggs" within the video games. This attracted many people towards the campaign because it was something that is new and only done on a rare occasion.

This is because many companies take advantage of certain devices like Tablets or smart phones for example. they take advantage of this by using nearly all the appilications and the whole internet to advertise their products. This has a huge boost to the digital industry as well as the economy, and creates many more jobs and opportunity's for society today. Before the time of converging technology, it was extremely difficult and time consuming to complete anything digitally. Converging technology allows anyone to do whatever they want on one device. An example of this could be filming a video. we used to have to use a Camera and transfer the footage onto a laptop, however, now you can record and save your videos all on a mobile phone, tablet and even some laptops.
Hashtags are used in order to build a large amount of awareness of a business on social media and online. there have been many marketing campaigns which evolved around a hashtag. For example, WWF had a campaign on twitter. In this campaign, for every time someone used their hashtag, they donated more money towards endangered animals. This raised awareness around the business on social media and increased the number of donations they received. Hashtags enable any business to interact with their customers and make their customers feel more of a part of the business.
